Hello. I rent a condo in Jomtien, just outside Pattaya, and getting to the main exchange offices means a baht bus ride each way plus the queue. I do this twice a month and it eats half a day every time. I keep wondering whether there is a way to get baht without the trip, ideally something reliable rather than meeting a random person from a Facebook group. What do people living around Pattaya do about this? I usually change a moderate amount each time, nothing extreme, but I would rather not lose half a day on the trip.

The Facebook group route is exactly what you should avoid, that is where the scam stories come from. The practical answer is delivery: you place the order remotely, agree the rate and a courier brings the cash to your condo, or the amount goes to your Thai bank account instead. I use money exchange near Pattaya in Thailand , Senate Exchange handles both. Tip: agree the rate in the chat before the courier leaves, and count the cash on the spot. A reputable service expects you to count and never rushes you. Also keep in mind that a transfer to your Thai bank account is often the calmest option of all: no cash at home, no courier meeting, and the money lands in the account you actually pay bills from.
